Summer and Pre-college programs/internships
It is never too early to start looking into summer or pre-college programs as a high school student. There are invaluable internships out there, too! Make sure you check university, government, or organization websites, and always verify any programs you find.
Students wishing to volunteer at ARMC this summer should stop by Mrs. Mitcheners office and pick up an application. Deadline to submit application is March 30, 2017. You must be 15 by September 1, 2017 in order to volunteer, have a B average and be willing to work a set schedule this summer.
ABSS Honors Institute
Rising Seniors who are interested in exploring current issues in our society should apply to the ABSS Honors Institute at Elon for this summer. There will be an interest meeting on Marth 30th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Williams HS auditorium for interested students or visit the ABSS District webpage for more information.

Camp Neuro is a 1-week summer camp open to all students 15 years or older as of the first day of camp. The camp runs Monday, July 17th- Friday, 21st, 2017 filled with hands-on workshops, lectures, and sessions with proffesionals on UNC Chapel Hill's campus. Spots are limited and NO payment is required to apply.

Alamance County Cattlemen's Association will award $1000 scholarships to students in need that are pursuing an education in an Agriculture related field.
If you are a Sr. planning to pursue a career in Agriculture, see Mrs. Mitchener for an application. Agriculture fields may include forestry, horticulture, animal science, etc.
All applications must be receieved by Monday March 31st.
The NC Youth Conservation Corps (NCYCC) is accepting applications from youth ages 16 to 24 for 2017 summer crews. As a NCYCC Corps Member, you will buildand improve hiking trails, parks, recreational facilities and wildlife habitats, make a difference in peoples lives, and have the experience of a lifetime. Crew members earn $9.60 an hour and may be eligible for an Americorps Education Award. This is an especially good opportunity for youth interested in the outdoors and/or environmental science. Attention Juniors and Seniors:
The last day to register for the SAT on March 11th is February 28th, and the last day to register for the ACT on April 8th is March 3rd; fees will increase through March 17th. See a counselor if you need a fee waiver.
Twin Lakes Volunteers
Are you a student between the ages of 12 and 17 who is looking for a wonderful adventure this summer? If so, you might be interested in the YESS Program (Youth Engaged Serving Seniors) at Twin Lakes. This program helps you learn more about older adults and gives you the opportunity to spend 1 to 2 days each week durring summer volunteering at Twin Lakes. See Mrs. Mitchener for more details.

Transfer to UNC Chapel Hill
Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program, or C-STEP, targets high-achieving students of low to moderate income a chance to transfer from ACC as a junior. C-STEP offers students special events, advising, and transition and support services both at their home college and at Carolina,while they are pursuing their associates degrees, and provide exemplary transiton and support services once they have enrolled at Carolina and are pursuing their bachlor degrees. ALL materials are due by the end or March. See Ms. Wu for details.
After School Tutoring
Calling all students looking to get caught up or get ahead- after school tutoring has started, and will be taking place most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 in the Media Center starting this week. No transportation provided, but there will be a teacher available and a student tutor as well. See Ms. Wu in Counseling if you have any questions.
Book Club meets every Wednesday after school in the library and we are accepting new members.
